We’ll be upfront – we think this package is a bit of clever marketing that doesn’t totally deliver in the babymoon category. While the name suggests that it’s a babymoon, and parents to be are mentioned in the marketing materials, when you look at the offerings, it’s really just another romantic getaway that someone was smart enough to promote to parents-to-be. Which we’re fine with – there’s no reason a babymoon has to have a special “pregnancy” component (although cocktails for a pregnant woman may not be the best freebie in the world). Since the concept is about connecting for one final time with your significant other before baby comes, a cute onesie for baby does not have to be part of the package. (And won’t Baby get loads of attention soon enough?)

Clearly the Adolphus has seen the rising popularity of babymoons and is looking to join the party. We just think if you’re going to a costume party, you should wear a costume. With all that said, why are we still telling you about the package? For one, the Adolphus was, when we last were there, a very opulent property with spacious rooms that were comfortable and luxurious in a traditionally understated way. And as we’ve noted, not every final getaway for expecting parents has to scream “prenatal”. So we’ll leave it up to you to decide whether to make this getaway at the Adolphus your babymoon, or a great romantic getaway without the baby after parenthood hits.

• dinner for 2 in the French room
