For some reason we’ve always found London especially… Christmasey. Perhaps it’s the whole A Christmas Carol thing, we don’t know, but something about London during the holidays prompts us to dress up in all our finery and celebrate the season in a style befitting old English traditions.
Claridge’s knows a thing or two about traditional style (and service, God bless them, every one). Their answer to our London longing is A Family Christmas package:
- 2 rooms for the price of 1 (selected room types only)
- 2 tickets for breakfast with Father Christmas at Hamleys
- English breakfast for 2 adults
- A bottle of champagne on arrival
Hamleys is a 7-floor toy store that has become a tourist attraction welcoming approximately 5 million visitors a year. Take your children there and allow them to pick out their choice of gifts as part of your holiday celebration. Of course, the store will be run amok with shoppers, but you’ll be able to retire to your own (separate!) accommodations to wind down afterwards. (Decrease your stress even further by arranging to have a Claridge’s Mercedes greet you at the airport when you arrive.)

Good deal – though the exchange rate is a bit harsh right now. Last time we flew Silverjet to London which we’d recommend if you want to fly business at a reasonable fare. Eos is another good alternative for first class.

E. Titchmarsh: You’re right – the exchange rate is a disaster right now, making what was formerly a bit of a splurge a real bank buster. Hence our increased focus on stateside deals these days; even Canada isn’t the bargain it once was. But we figured we’d show a few international deals and promotions here and there and leave it up to people to decide what they’re willing and able to break the bank for!
