January Debut for Mandarin Oriental Riviera Maya
Saturday, December 8, 2007The Mandarin Oriental Riviera Maya is taking reservations now for arrivals beginning January 15, 2008. The resort, which is billing itself as a luxurious hideaway, will be set on 36 acres of lush landscape, only 10 minutes away from Playa del Carmen and 30 minutes from Cancun’s international airport.

Guests will be able to choose from 4 restaurants and 2 lounges, each with an individual and unique rhythm and cuisine. Also on-site: a 25,000 square foot spa that embraces holistic thinking and mixes Mayan philosophies with Asian healing rituals to offer guests truly relaxing and revitalizing treatments. If you’re looking for other ways to relax, you can choose from one of 3 swimming pools or the resort’s Art Courtyards, 6 peaceful spaces meant to inspire meditation and featuring the artwork of Mexican artists.
You’ll have a choice of 128 rooms, situated in bungalow villas or 2-story villas, and each room with views of the sea or the resort’s unique water features, comprising canals, waterways and a tranquil lagoon. Every room boasts a spacious private terrace or garden and secluded garden bathrooms; some feature individual plunge pools as well. The interiors are designed with Asian understated elegance using native exotic woods and stone, and provide a perfect backdrop for Mexican art.

What’s in store for kids? The Little Fans Club for the 4 to 8 set will introduce your children to Mayan culture and nature using an arts and crafts approach. Of course, the pool and the beach are (almost always) good entertainment, and there’s plenty to do off-site as well, with horseback riding and mountain biking being among the options. Kids can end their busy days as cozily as parents: the resort promises that, with advance notice, little ones will be welcomed to the resort with a special welcome pack and appropriately sized bathrobes and slippers.
