    Wednesday, November 7th, 2007

Looking for great travel gifts for the upcoming holiday season? Look no further: we’ve dedicated this week’s roundup to gifts for travelers young and well, not so young:

    • Over at Mighty Goods they scoped out a cool Nap Sac Travel Blanket, a travel blanket and inflatable pillow that come in a nifty sac - which then doubles as the pillow case. $28
    • iPod case w/speakersThis funky iPod case at Horchow (right) comes with built-in speakers, making it great for trips. $95
    • Busy travelers may find MobiMate’s WorldMate useful: software that goes on your phone and syncs up with your Outlook to organize your travel itinerary. It also gives you hotel listings, flight info, currency conversions and other travel-related information; there are several editions, each with varied features. Professional edition, $74.95
    • Travel books for little ones abound: two good choices are Going on a Plane, which tells little travelers what to expect when they’re airbound, and Lisa’s Airplane Ride, the adventures of a stuffed dog traveling solo from Paris to New York. $4.95/$9.95 at Amazon
    • Kids’ CamcorderTech-savvy kids can create their own vacation memories with this camcorder from Hammacher Schlemmer (left), which includes cool editing features and TV and iPod cables to view your budding director’s work. $159.95

    Kids’ Luggage: The Fritz Backpack

    Tuesday, October 9th, 2007

fritz backpack from Amies CircleBackpacks like this cute one from Amies Circle have a decidedly European feel, with cute non-famous doggies with names like Fritz and Chris’topher neatly emblazoned upon them. They’re great kids’ carry-on luggage, and because the design doesn’t scream “toddler” (the way an Elmo backpack would), even teens and tweens might like them, especially when the designs are also offered in wallets, wristlets and laptop sleeves. Oh - did we mention the price? A cool $25 for the vinyl lead-free backpack, the most expensive of the bunch - leaving more money for the actual vacation.

    Wednesday’s Web Roundup

    Wednesday, August 29th, 2007

Bathrooms, books and bags - all part of today’s trip around the web.

    • I come from a land down under” - and it has a lot of bathrooms. The Aussies have a public toilet map online, courtesy of the government’s Dept of Health and Ageing (their spelling, not ours). Cool that the government actually considers this important - we just hope it’s up to date. (Yes, the potty obsession continues.)
    • Our daughter loves our vacations. She loves pictures of herself. And she’s also become obsessed with puzzles (and pretty good at them too). We can put this all together over at Jigsaw2order, where they’ll make a puzzle out of any photo you upload, from 30 pieces to 1500.
    • We just bought about thirty books for dear daughter, some of which are coming on vacation. When we’ve read those 1000 times by night two, we can turn to SillyBooks.net, which has animated books online (narrated too!) - a great save when our other books are back at home.
    • If you’re off to England with wee ones, they (and you) might appreciate Storybook England, a website that takes you on a journey through the best of children’s literature. You’ll find the places that inspired authors such as Lewis Carroll and J.K. Rowling, bringing the children’s classics to life.
    • The Kaia Peterka handbag below, aptly named the Getaway, caught our eye. Roomy enough to do double duty as a diaper bag if need be, this stylish bag is designed for taking “stuff” and stashing new “stuff” you pick up in your travels. It’s perfect for fall and a wonderfully stylish carry-on, and you can have one for $550. [via Luxist]
