Well, if there’s one animated character that’s a perfect fit for Legoland, it’s definitely Bob the Builder - what else are those little blocks for but tripping over building cool stuff?
Bob will debut his film at the theme parks starting in March 2009 with openings in the US and the UK. Come April, you’ll also find the movie at the park’s Denmark and Germany locations. The cool 10-minute 4-D flick, in which Bob and the rest of the crew build a roller coaster, focuses on what happens when troublemaker Spud decides a la Fleetwood Mac to go his own way. Doesn’t take a brainiac to guess the kind of trouble that ensues, but of course it all ends up well, with the kiddies learning the importance of having and following a plan when starting a project.
The film is exclusively licensed to Legoland for a year only. What happens after that, who knows? So make your own plan to visit Legoland come next spring.
If you’ve ever listened to dancehall music from Jamaica, you probably had no idea what the lyrics were - unless, of course, you happen to be from Jamaica or one of its Caribbean neighbors.
Thanks to Youtube, you can actually hear - and practice, if you’re so inclined - some Jamaican patois. Dr. Seuss’ ABCs get read Jamaican style - the audio/video combo is a real help as your brain processes that yes, the book says little, but the narrator said likkle.
Kids will probably get a kick out of hearing Dr. Seuss read with some tropical flavor, and you’ll surely pick up some understanding of how words get translated into Jamaican English. Still, don’t make an ass out of yourself trying to speak this to any Jamaican, and for God’s sake stay away from saying “mon,” which is the same as screaming “dumbtourist“. They understand American English just fine. Now, maybe you’ll understand them a little better the next time you hit Montego Bay.
It seems almost insane to contemplate a getaway like this, given our current economy, but we guarantee there’s someone out there for whom this package is completely within the realm of possibility. (Perhaps some of the higher-ups at AIG?)
